THE GRID EXPERIMENT

Privacy

Updated September 11, 2026

The Grid Experiment is a native light-cycle game. Solo Battle and Free Ride work without an online profile. The information below describes what our online game service handles when you choose online play.

Your online profile

Online play creates a guest profile for this installation. It has a random player ID, a sign-in key, and a display name. The app keeps the key locally; the service stores a hash of it. We keep match participation, wins, eliminations, scores, and related room and result records so your statistics can be shown when you return.

Your game name, bike movement, trails, and match state are shared with other players in the same match. Room members can see the room’s player IDs and names. There is no public account directory, advertising integration, or advertising identifier collection in the game.

Connections and service providers

Your IP address is visible to the services receiving your connection. We send it to Edgegap to choose a nearby game server. The application database keeps a keyed hash of the IP address for signup rate limits, rather than the raw address. Security counters also limit repeated requests from a player ID.

Vercel hosts the account and room API, Neon stores profiles and results, and Edgegap runs the authoritative game servers. These providers process connection information and operational data needed to deliver their services. Server placement and processing may occur outside your country. Hosting providers retain operational logs and backups under their own settings and policies. Apple may separately process TestFlight or App Store diagnostics under its platform policies.

Storage and retention

Your profile and statistics remain in the application database until you delete your online profile. Shared match histories can remain with your identifying entries removed. Short-lived game servers shut down when unused and have a maximum session lifetime. Rate-limit counters become eligible for deletion after 48 hours and are removed by a daily maintenance job, so they may remain until that next run.

Settings, solo progress, and photo-mode captures are stored locally. Our online service does not upload your photo-mode images. The camera controls change a virtual game camera, not your device camera. Game art, music, and sound effects are bundled in the app; reference-film footage, sampled film audio, and extracted reference frames are not distributed as game content.

Delete your online profile

Open Settings → Delete Online Profile in the app and confirm. After the service confirms completion, your sign-in key is revoked, your online profile and statistics are erased, and identifying membership and shared-result references are removed. Other players’ profiles and results remain intact. Locally stored solo progress, settings, and images are separate from the online profile.

A one-way deletion receipt is accepted for 45 minutes so a retried deletion can be acknowledged and a delayed server report cannot recreate the profile. It contains only one-way hashes and expiry information, with no room association and is removed by daily maintenance after expiry. Deletion updates the active application database; provider logs and backups follow the retention settings described above. If you choose online play again after deletion, the app creates a new guest profile.

Questions

If you use TestFlight, choose Send Beta Feedback on The Grid Experiment’s page in TestFlight. For help, visit support or email pallavmac@gmail.com. If you contact us by email, we use the details you provide to respond to your request. You do not need to contact support to delete an online profile; that action is available directly in the app.
